Based on her academic performance on the Preliminary SAT and her overall GPA, Babylon High School senior Alexandra Diaz-Pane has been named a 2013-14 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. The honor, issued by the College Board, was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.

At Babylon High School, Alexandra is a dedicated scholar, having been named to the principal's high honors list since the ninth grade. She is a member of the National Honor Society – and previously, the National Junior Honor Society – as well as the National Spanish Honor Society. She has also been a member of the school's cross-country team since her freshman year and continually volunteers her time for several local organizations.

This year, the NHRP recognized approximately 5,300 students from a pool of more than 259,000 who took the 2012 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA. Recognized students are of Hispanic/Latino descent, achieved PSAT results above the 188 high selection index and possess a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
