Babylon Students Selected to Perform at Regional Festivals

Babylon School District student-musicians continue to garner high praise and recognition for their talents. As a result of their scores at last year’s NYSSMA solo and ensemble festival and based upon the recommendation of their teachers, five students have been invited to perform at the Long Island String Association Festival this year. Additionally, based on the same criteria, Christian Martino and Patrick Roche were selected to take part in this year’s all-county percussion ensemble and the associated SCMEA Day of Percussion.

“Their selection is a testament to the many talented musicians in the Babylon Schools,” said Angela Turk, director of fine arts. “I am thrilled that they are getting this opportunity to further develop their skills and perform with other dedicated and gifted Suffolk County music students.”

This year’s LISFA honorees are Timothy Altbacker, (fifth-grade, cello); Emma Schubart, (ninth-grade, violin); Ethan Schubart, (fifth-grade, viola); Peter Schubart (seventh-grade, cello); and William Ye (10th grade, violin).
