Administrators from the district and Babylon Junior-Senior High School, along with student volunteers, helped introduce incoming seventh-graders to their new surroundings during a seventh-grade orientation on Aug. 27.

Accompanied by parents and guardians, the incoming students gathered in the auditorium before breaking off into groups for workshops, which were run by members of the high school student council and other volunteers from the upper grades.
“Transitioning from one school to another can be an intimidating experience,” said Superintendent Linda Rozzi. “But with this orientation and the wonderful work of our upperclassman volunteers, our incoming seventh-graders will be at ease and well-prepared.”

The student-run workshops included a video tour of the building, an introduction to the school’s many clubs and extracurricular activities, and information on intramural sports. The students were also given a chance to locate and open their assigned lockers.
