Working Together to Save

Last summer, Superintendent of Schools Linda Rozzi, Deputy Superintendent Peter Daly and Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino announced a shared agreement with the village for garbage pickup and after-hours security at district buildings, which is projected to yield an annual savings of approximately $55,000 for the district.

District administrators and Board of Education members joined Babylon Village dignitaries in recognizing and celebrating the parties’ new shared services agreement. “This inter-municipal, cutting-edge initiative began last spring,” Mrs. Rozzi said. “As a district, we are regularly looking for opportunities to operate in a more efficient manner. It’s wonderful to see how two groups can come together and save money for the community using resources that already existed.”

The two groups plan to re-evaluate the effort on a year-to-year basis, with the hopes of growing the initiative in subsequent years.
