Junior-Senior High School 10th-graders showed that games could be both fun and educational during their recent English assignment.

After completing a close reading of “Lord of the Flies,” the students were tasked with a final project of creating a board game that detailed the lessons they had learned throughout the unit. Working in small groups and using their creativity, they invented several different types of games and presented their finished products to the class. The groups rotated so all students played each game. Their games included questions relating to themes, symbolism, characterization and plot structure.
