In preparation for the start of school, members of the Babylon Elementary School community were invited to meet the building’s new Principal, Travis Davey, during an informational summer “Meet and Greet” event.

Upon arriving, attendees were invited to complete a brief survey and share information about their experiences at Babylon Elementary School. Questions included “What makes our school different than any other school?” and “How can we continue to shape the trajectory of the school culture in a positive way?”
During his opening remarks, Davey noted that he intends to use the survey feedback to guide the development of a central mission and vision for the school’s future.

“Together, we will be the co-authors for this year’s educational story and this shared experience begins today,” Davey said.
After briefly speaking about his personal educational philosophy and experiences, Davey said he was drawn to the district’s small town and tight-knit feeling and he plans to embrace that history while working to help create well-rounded scholars.

Those who were unable to attend the event are invited to join in on the conversation during Davey’s second “Meet and Greet” on Aug. 18 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Babylon Elementary School library. Parents who wish to provide feedback but are unable to make either event can visit the www.babylonschools.org for a link to the survey online.
