As part of an international movement, Babylon Elementary School students and their families left their cars at home and walked or biked to school for the annual Walk to School Day on Oct. 5.

The event drew in a large crowd of students, family members and staff, all donning orange and black clothing to raise awareness for an active and healthy lifestyle. Principal Travis Davey welcomed students before they entered the school and helped them place paper foot cut-outs on a “Walk to School” poster on the side of the building.

“We’ve hosted this event every year for the past few years, and everyone always has a great time taking part in it,” said physical education teacher Rob Andrews. “It gives students the opportunity to get in their exercise for the day while having fun along the way.”
