To begin the night’s celebrations, several student-athletes were honored for their contributions both on and off of the athletic field. Bella Kelly advanced to the NYSPHSAA State Championships in gymnastics, Haylie Kelly won the Suffolk County Championship and advanced to the NYSPHSAA State Championships in gymnastics and Catherine Shaw represented Babylon Schools at the NYSPHSAA State Championships in cross-country.

The Babylon Junior-Senior High School varsity girls soccer team were presented with tokens of appreciation by the Board of Education for being named the 2017 Long Island Class B Soccer Champions.

Based on their achievements in the classroom, multiple Babylon Junior-Senior High School students were recognized for being named Advanced Placement Scholars by the College Board this fall. Of the 33 total students, 24 received the AP Scholar title for receiving a score of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Four students were given the title of AP Scholar with Honor, as they achieved an average score of at least 3.25 on all of their AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Additionally, five students were awarded the title of AP Scholar of with Distinction, including current senior Jeffrey Kaji, as they achieved an average score of at least 3.5 on all exams taken with scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

The selected students, including Sydney Altbacker, Aubrey Alvino, Rachel Gordon, Ryan Marrone, Keira Pitagno, Peter Schubart and Sophia Sherman, were chosen for these honors based on their performance at last spring’s NYSSMA solo and ensemble festival and teacher recommendation.
