Based on their excellent business-oriented skills, Babylon Junior-Senior High School students Danish Farooq, Agnes Goldin and Allie Van Rossem were invited to Atlanta, Georgia to participate in the New York State DECA International Career Development Conference held in late April.

During their attendance, Danish presented his winning Community Service manual to the judges, while Agnes and Allie took tests on their topics and performed role playing activities in which they solved a particular business “problem.”

The keynote speaker for the opening ceremony was Joseph Abboud, a fashion designer from Boston, Massachusetts, best known for his own line of menswear, as well as for his Men’s Wearhouse designs. He spoke about perseverance and determination, and detailed his often-bumpy road to success.

In addition, the conference offered the opportunity for the students to network with other students from all over the United States, as well as some countries abroad. They were also able to interact with representatives from a variety of colleges, military branches and corporations.
