Office of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

Welcome to the Office of Curriculum and Instruction for the Babylon Union Free School District.  We are committed to providing each student in our district with a high quality core curriculum in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and world languages as well as many other valuable, enriching learning experiences in music, art, family consumer science, business, technology, physical education and health.

Each of the content areas listed here are guided by learning standards which inform instruction and help to define curriculum.  Standards also help to articulate the skills, concepts, and understandings we believe all students need to be well educated individuals.  Student performance on these standards is measured through ongoing assessment at the local, state, and national level.

Above all, our mission is to educate the whole child.  To this end, the BOE Mission Statement reads as follows:

"The mission of the Babylon Board of Education is to promote lifelong learning by addressing the needs of the whole child and recognizing that individuals learn, grow and achieve differently.  The Board of Education strives to offer diverse programs that promote critical thinking, communication, problem solving, civic responsibility, self discipline and accountability.  The Board of Education pledges to create a safe and orderly learning environment and is committed to teamwork, shared leadership, fostering community involvement, and exercising fiscal responsibility."

We thank you for your commitment to your child and our schools.  Please feel free to contact our school principals or me when you have questions related to our educational programs.
