Student Services

The New York State Education Law permits legal absences from school for the following reasons: sickness, sickness or death in the family, religious observances, required presence in court, religious instruction, and impassable roads or weather making travel unsafe. A note explaining the reason for absence is required on the day the child returns to school. Whenever possible, parents should advise the school by telephone of the child’s absence. Also, a note explaining tardiness is required for all students.
