Students in the Babylon Union Free School District are maintaining and enhancing their academic skills during summer vacation through two programs offered by the district. More than 150 students in grades K-6 are enrolled in the virtual summer skills program, which focuses on preparing students for September. Teachers utilize a variety of instructional strategies to promote student engagement and understanding, including live whole group and small group virtual instruction via Microsoft Teams. The Extended School Year Program operates on a hybrid model, with the in-portion held at Babylon Memorial Grade School and the virtual portion utilizing Microsoft Teams as its main instructional platform. Each day, students participate in hands-on and engaging activities to promote individualized learning goals. These activities include reading, math, speech, life skills and even virtual field trips.
