The junior-senior high school welcomed two new administrators this school year. Matthew S. Ryan is the new assistant principal, while Teresa Collins was promoted to director of English language arts.

“I am looking forward to working with Babylon’s exceptional group of parents, students and staff,” said Mr. Ryan. “I feel honored and elated to be part of such a wonderful community that is dedicated to schoolwide academic excellence.” He joins the district from Glen Cove High School, where he was an earth science and Advanced Placement environmental science teacher. Mr. Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and geological natural resources and a master’s degree in earth science adolescent education from Binghamton University. He also has a certificate of advanced graduate studies from Queens College.

Teresa Collins, an English teacher at the junior-senior high school since 1998, has been promoted to director of English language arts. “As the new director of ELA, I am looking forward to working collaboratively with colleagues and engaging in professional dialogue to meet the challenges presented by the Common Core, including state testing and college and career readiness for all 21st-century learners,” Ms. Collins said.

Ms. Collins received her undergraduate degree in both English and psychology and her master’s degree in secondary education from Hofstra University. In addition, she holds a school district administrator degree from LIU Post.
