Babylon Students Recognized in Statewide PTA Arts Competition

Posted Date: 04/13/26 (04:21 PM)

Five Babylon School District students advanced to the state level of the PTA Reflections contest, a national arts competition that invites students to submit original works for judging. Kira Kubat and Chloe Maebara were recognized in the dance choreography category, Dylan Tourt in music composition category, and Casey Crowley and Kaiyah Tacahashi in the visual arts category. In addition to being recognized at the state level of the contest, Chloe and Kaiyah earned the state PTA’s Award of Merit.

This year's theme, "I Belong," challenged young artists to explore identity, community, and connection through their creative expression. Entries were judged on creativity, technique, and interpretation of the theme, with works advancing from local PTA units through council and district levels before reaching state consideration.

New York State received 545 submissions from county-level competitions this year, ultimately awarding 111 entries with Awards of Merit.
